Why do we go on this journey?

Every journey starts with the question WHY. Why are we interested in exploring inner transformation? Why does it make sense to embark on a journey into mindsets while we care about sustainability? Entries that I find at this journey station give me insights into the background of this learning process. I can find arguments why sustainabiliy i not “only” an “outer” process but invites us to also look into mindset, mental models and generally processes of “inner” transformation. If it is not clear to you, why mindsets are a relevant dimension of sustainability-related transformatation, we encourage you to first expolore content that you find at this journey station.

By which related journeys are we inspired?

Obviously, we are neither the first nor the only ones who are interested in the connection between mindsets and inner transformation, and we are not the only ones who explore this field through a relationship-based approach of transformative research. Therefore, we would like to share the stories, organizations or initiatives that inspire us in what we are doing and how we are doing it. Transformative endeavors like our research process emerge in specific contexts and therefore take a certain shape that corresponds with this context. Still there is so much that we can learn from processes that emerged in other contexts and pursue a similar purpose in a different but related way. The content that we collect at this journey station is a glimpse into the universe of other processes that we feel related to or inspired by.

What happens on this journey?

The big question is of course: HOW that a process happen that integrates “inner” dimensions of transformation? How do mindset shifts really come about and what processes enable them? This journey station is a collection of the many different approaches that we get to know for facilitation inner transformation. The approaches range from therapeutic practices to facilitation schools, artistic exercises or contemplative tradtions. We continuously learn more about the many approaches that humans have developed in order to engage in transformation of their own inner state of being, their mindsets and their fundamental mental models. Those who are not familiar with processes of inner transformation or find terms like “inner transformation” or “mindset shift” rather vague can find examples here for the approaches we find interesting and what actually happens with and through them.

What can be the effects of this journey?

This journey station collects indications for the specific potential of inner transformation with respect to sustainability. It may not be obvious how certain inner practices may be beneficial in the context of conventional sustainability topics such as climate action or energy transformation. Here, you find content with information about the specific contribution of inner transformation towards specific issues from the discourse on sustainabiliy. If you tend to believe that the real challenges lie in “the outside world” and reflection processes or inner transformation are essentially “something personal” you will find information here that helps you build the link very concretely.

Where shall our journey take us?

Before we can take action, we want to engage in a process of visioning. After engaging in transformation of our mindset and mental models we are curious: How is our notion of the future changing? What kind of vision about a more healthy world to be gain? Is there a bigger picture that we may contribute to? And if so, what might it look like? At thsi journey station we collect content about such potential futures or initiatives that are working on more concrete visions for our future as orientation for our specific action.

Where does the journey continue from here?

And finally, it is tima to take action. Our way of acting is highly context-specific. The same deep insights from our process of inner transformation may have very different consequences for us, depending on where I live and what role I hold. Here, we collect very concrete examples of how experiences of inner transformation may manifest in human activities. Meeting the world from a mindset of compassion and love may manifest very differently for someone who is running a farm compared to someone who is working in the administration of an international company or a political agency. The examples one can find at this journey station may inspire us to get a sense how our own actions may look as we are inspired by processes of inner transformation.
